Hello there curious minds! Today, we're diving into the contradictions of cannabis. It helps people and yet it can seem to have an opposite effect with others - so how does one discern the truth? So, let's light up our intellectual curiosity and embark on this journey together!
There are many anecdotal stories and studies of people who have reduced their pain, improved their quality of life, their sleep, reduced anxiety levels, their stress levels and lifted their depression. Some have reduced or eliminated the need for opioids, some have conquered their cancer, some have simply improved their relationship with family and friends. Many are better parents because of their cannabis consumption. Cannabis helps you to play nice with others, it lightens the load from your shoulders. So yes, it has proven to be extremely beneficial to many people. But cannabis is not without its contradictions!

Many are better parents because of their cannabis consumption. Cannabis helps you to play nice with others, it lightens the load from your shoulders.
But cannabis is not without its contradictions!
APPETITE: Those who deal with loss of appetite due to their health condition have found that cannabis can stimulate it and thus they can get the nutrients required for their healing journey. And conversely, it can help to suppress your appetite if that is what’s needed.
ANXIETY: Those who deal with anxiety have found cannabis to be extremely beneficial in helping them to remain calm and without fear. Conversely it can cause anxiety and panic attacks as mentioned above.
SLEEP: Sleep is another big reason for cannabis use, but again we can have a dichotomy. It helps people sleep very well, but it has been known to cause restless sleep.
MOTIVATION: It can cause you to relax soooo much that absolutely nothing gets done (which is not a bad thing necessarily) but it can also inspire you to be creative, to clean the house, to get things done.
MEMORY: It can cause short term memory loss, but it can stimulate the brain to amazing new ideas, thoughts, projects and more.
At this point you may be wondering how is it that cannabis has so many opposite effects? Helps with anxiety and causes anxiety - helps with sleep but can keep you awake at night - stimulates appetite and suppresses appetite.
It all begins with YOU! 5 people can consume the exact same thing and each has a different response. It depends on the dosing, the specific cultivar or strain, the strength, the method, or methods of consumption.
Do you smoke it, eat it, or apply it topically? Which method is best? How strong should it be? How do I prepare my cannabis in the first place? Do I take THC or just CBD? All these points can make a huge difference on how this amazing medicine will affect you.
Cannabis has proven to be beneficial for so many people that we can no longer ignore it. So despite the contradictions, if the cardinal rule ‘start low and go slow’ is applied, you most likely will get the results you are after.
This is where a good cannabis coach is invaluable. Yes, there is such a thing. It is a convoluted guessing game with cannabis consumption and there are a lot of factors to consider when adding cannabis to your health program. In the end it’s all about finding the right combination for you and what you are dealing with.
And it’s all about your beautiful endocannabinoid system, but that’s for another blog.
There are so many ways of consuming cannabis that trying to figure it out on your own can be daunting. Hiring a cannabis coach is a wise decision for individuals seeking guidance and support in safely and effectively navigating the world of cannabis.
